Preventive maintenance of heavy equipment at high altitude

Dust, cold and thinner air demand extra care. These are the basic practices to keep equipment running in the Andes.

Working in the Peruvian highlands is harder on equipment: thinner air, dust, sharp temperature swings and difficult roads. A good preventive maintenance plan reduces downtime and major repairs.

Daily inspection before operating

Checking fluid levels, hoses, fittings, tracks or tires, lights and alarms takes a few minutes and catches problems early.

Filters and air system

In dusty environments, air filters clog faster. Inspecting and replacing them at the right interval protects the engine.

Cooling and lubrication

At altitude, engines work under different conditions. Watching coolant temperature and using the lubricants recommended by the manufacturer helps avoid overheating and premature wear.

Log hours and services

Keeping a record of operating hours and services performed lets you schedule replacements before a failure happens.

Repair on time, where the machine is

A maintenance team that works in the field avoids moving heavy equipment just for a repair. At Alejo Corp, our maintenance team services our own fleet in the field, and in our workshop we repair third-party equipment of all brands.
